Harrah’s Resort SoCal Debuts New Campaign

FUNNER, CA — Harrah’s Resort Southern California has launched a new brand campaign called “Fun is Boring,” the latest iteration of the casino resort’s “Funner” identity introduced in 2016.

The campaign coincides with the approaching 10-year anniversary of the resort’s branding initiative. On August 1, 2016, the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians renamed the resort’s land to Funner, CA, a move the company has used to distinguish itself in the regional gaming market. Over the past decade, the property has appointed a series of celebrity figures as honorary “mayors,” including David Hasselhoff, Rob Riggle, Jane Lynch, and Martin Short.

Property Changes Since 2016

The resort has undergone significant expansion and renovation over the past decade. Additions to its dining options include a Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen location that opened in 2022, which the company describes as the largest such restaurant, along with KJ Chinese Restaurant, Smashburger, and Tierra y Mar, scheduled to open in July 2026.

Other recent investments include a $13.1 million renovation of the high-limit gaming area, a rebuilt fitness center, a renovated spa, and a new nature trail. The resort also completed a renovation of its South Tower and a $24 million update to its Dive Inn rooms.

“As we approach a decade of Funner, we want to remind our guests that if they just want ‘fun,’ they can go to a dentist’s waiting room,” said Jill Barrett, SVP & GM. “If they want to feel alive, they belong here.”

New Offerings and Anniversary Event

The resort announced several promotions tied to the campaign:

  • A “Hijack a Tuesday” room package for guests 21 and older, available on Tuesdays from June 16 to September 29, which includes a room and poolside cabana starting at $350.
  • A guest voting system using hotel key cards to gather feedback on future experiences.
  • A custom 16-ounce beer produced with Rincon Brewery, available this summer at resort bars and the Emporium retail store.
  • A themed “Fun is Boring” drink menu.
  • A 10th anniversary event, “Mayor’s Millions,” on Saturday, June 27, featuring hourly cash drawings from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Ten winners will each receive $50,000 and a stay in the resort’s Mayoral Suite.

The company said additional promotions and a “Fun is Boring” merchandise line are planned through 2027.
