Sky River Casino Hotel Construction Advances

Sky River Hotel

ELK GROVE, CA – Sky River Casino has completed several significant milestones in its resort development, marking the project’s transition from extensive site preparation and foundation work into upward, vertical construction.

On June 24, crews completed the foundation pour for the hotel’s West Tower following weeks of extensive site preparation, including excavation, grading, and the installation of reinforcing steel and formwork designed to shape and strengthen the structure. In total, 1,500 cubic yards of concrete were poured to form a stable base, perfectly designed to support the full weight of the tower, ensuring long-term durability and structural integrity.

The following day, on June 25, construction teams began erecting the tower’s superstructure – everything above ground that will ultimately form the visible building. This phase includes assembling the tower’s structural framework of columns and beams, followed by floor slabs and additional levels that will rise sequentially as construction progresses. Momentum continued on July 6 with completion of the East Tower foundation pour, allowing work to advance across both hotel towers.

The West and East Towers are key components of Sky River Casino’s broader expansion plan, which will introduce a 300-room state-of-the-art hotel designed to complement the existing entertainment, dining, and gaming offerings. Once complete, the hotel is expected to be the largest in Elk Grove, significantly expanding the city’s hospitality offerings. In addition to the hotel, the expansion includes plans for a resort-style outdoor pool, a full-service day spa and salon, and a multi-use event and entertainment space, along with expanded gaming amenities such as enhanced high-limit and VIP areas.

“Joining the team at this stage of construction is a privilege and a unique opportunity to help shape the future of this resort,” said Holland Tudor, VP of Hospitality for Sky River Casino. “This is a chance for us to define everything from the guest experience to the team that will bring it to life each day. We’ll continue to provide updates on construction progress as our shared vision comes to life.”

Construction activity is also expanding beyond the hotel towers. Crews have begun building the foundations for the resort’s low-rise buildings that establish the groundwork for many of the guest experiences and operational spaces that will support the overall resort destination.

As visitation to Elk Grove continues to grow, the need for expanded lodging options has increased to support both leisure and regional travel demand. Visitors currently stay an average of 2.4 days in Elk Grove, and approximately 80 percent of visitors stay overnight. Sky River Casino’s project is anticipated to increase local hotel supply by over 40 percent, helping meet growing visitor demand and supporting the region’s continued tourism growth.

Construction will continue in the months ahead as the project moves closer to completion.
