ONEIDA, WI – The Oneida Nation inaugurated its newly elected Oneida Business Committee on Aug. 28 at Thornberry Creek at Oneida.
The nine-member Business Committee serves as the day-to-day governing body of the Oneida Nation.
Tehassi Hill was re-elected to a third term as Chairman. First elected as a councilmember in 2017, Hill has served continuously since then and has been involved in the expansion of tribal businesses and services for Oneida citizens. As he begins his third term, Hill plans to continue emphasizing unity within the Nation.
Jameson Wilson was elected Vice Chairman after serving his first term as a councilmember beginning in 2023. Treasurer Lawrence Barton and Secretary Lisa Liggins were re-elected to their respective positions.
Councilmembers Jennifer Webster and Jonas Hill were also re-elected, while Lora Danforth, Aliskwet Ellis and Kristal Hill were newly elected to the Business Committee. All nine members will serve three-year terms through 2029.
Members of the Oneida Judiciary were also inaugurated. Patricia Ninham-Hoeft was inaugurated as Court of Appeals Chief Judge, with Brenda John and John Orie as Court of Appeals Judges. Peril Huff was inaugurated as a Trial Court Judge and John E. Powless III as Trial Court Chief Judge.
