Arizona Reopens Event Wagering Licensing

PHOENIX, AZ – The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) will begin accepting new applications for event wagering licenses on June 26, 2026. Pursuant to A.R.S. §5-1304 and A.A.C. R19-4-105 and 106, the agency will accept applications for not less than one event wagering license reserved for Arizona tribes and not less than one event wagering license reserved for Arizona sports franchises, as defined in A.R.S. § 5-1301(7).

“As the state regulator, we remain dedicated to consumer protection and a thorough licensing review process,” said Cliff Holden, ADG Assistant Director of Certification and Licensing. “We look forward to receiving new applications for regulated event wagering.”

The application window for event wagering licenses will open on June 26, 2026, and will close on July 10, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Arizona time. Applicants must submit their completed applications within this timeframe to be considered for a license. Prospective applicants are encouraged to carefully review the materials on the agency’s website to understand the application process and requirements.

Since the launch of legal event wagering and sports betting in Arizona in 2021, people have wagered $33.9 billion, generating approximately $179.9 million in event wagering privilege fees for the state. The 2021 enabling legislation allows for a maximum of 20 event wagering operator licenses, with 10 reserved for Arizona tribes and 10 reserved for Arizona sports franchises. There are currently 14 licensed operators, and periodically, the ADG has opened new application windows, most recently one in July 2024.
