COARSEGOLD, CA – The Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians has been recognized by California State University, Fresno (Fresno State) for its longstanding support of the university and its commitment to expanding educational opportunities throughout the Central Valley.
Representatives from Fresno State recently visited the tribe to present the tribal council with a commemorative medallion recognizing the tribe’s partnership with the university and its continued investment in higher education. The presentation was made by Kellie Carrillo, Director of Tribal Relations, and Danielle Young of Fresno State’s University Advancement.
Fresno State’s University Advancement division works to strengthen partnerships with alumni, donors, and community organizations that help advance student success, educational opportunity, and the university’s mission throughout the Central Valley.
“This recognition is deeply meaningful because it reflects the relationship we have built with Fresno State over many years,” said Chairperson Deann Kamalani of the Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians. “Education creates opportunity, strengthens communities, and helps preserve culture for future generations. We are proud to support Fresno State’s mission and to partner with an institution that shares our commitment to serving the people of the Central Valley.”
