Grand Traverse Resort & Casinos Rebrands

Grand Traverse Resort & Spa

TRAVERSE CITY, MI – Formerly operating as Grand Traverse Resort and Casinos, the organization that oversees the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians’ five casino properties will rebrand as Grand Traverse Band Economic Development Corporation (GTBEDC), officially recognizing its original corporate roots with the name change. The change reflects the organization’s continued growth, diversification, and dedication to driving economic opportunity on behalf of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.

For decades, Grand Traverse Resort & Casinos has been recognized as a leader in hospitality, entertainment, and gaming in Northern Michigan, operating properties including Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel, Leelanau Sands Casino & Lodge, Crystal Shores Casino, Beach Fire Cannabis, and Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. With the return to the original Grand Traverse Band Economic Development Corporation name, the organization is reaffirming its broader mission of strengthening economic development opportunities for the tribe and the region.

“This evolution goes beyond a new name – it represents our commitment to expanding our reach as an economic driver for the Grand Traverse Band,” said Johnny Barrientoz, CEO for Grand Traverse Band Economic Development Corporation. “From entertainment and hospitality to new business ventures, GTBEDC is focused on long-term sustainability and growth for our communities and our people.”

The transition also reflects an alignment with the Grand Traverse Band’s broader vision of fostering economic sovereignty while creating opportunities for employment, innovation, and community reinvestment.
