MARICOPA, AZ – Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino marked the grand opening of Caesars Sportsbar, a new sports viewing and dining venue at the property. The opening event included appearances by former NFL players Doug Flutie, a Heisman Trophy winner, and Terrell Davis, a Pro Football Hall of Fame running back and Super Bowl MVP.
The grand opening marks the second completed project in Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino’s multi-phase, multi-million-dollar renovation and expansion focused on enhancing guest amenities and supporting long-term economic growth for the Ak-Chin Indian Community.
Spanning approximately 3,700 sq. ft. and seating up to 146 guests, Caesars Sportsbar is built around today’s modern sports viewing habits. The venue features multiple LED displays, including two 18-by-8-foot LED walls, allowing guests to watch multiple live sporting events simultaneously from nearly every vantage point.
“Caesars Sportsbar represents a significant step forward in our ongoing investment in Harrah’s Ak-Chin and the Ak-Chin Indian Community,” said Mike Kintner, SVP and GM of Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino. “From design and technology to food and beverage, this space was created to offer guests an elevated and immersive sports viewing experience.”
During the opening celebration, guests had the opportunity to meet Flutie and Davis, both widely regarded among the most accomplished players in professional football history.
April Tawney, Harrah’s Ak-Chin Director of Facilities and Surveillance, worked closely with Tribal Capital Projects in collaborating with the Ak-Chin Tribal Arts and Design Committee to ensure thoughtful representation of community heritage.
Designed by JCJ Architecture and constructed by Penta Construction, Caesars Sportsbar reflects the Caesars brand while incorporating cultural elements representative of the Ak-Chin Indian Community including a historic photograph of Ak-Chin Lobos baseball players alongside professional sports memorabilia are featured throughout the space.
Several enhancements are planned as part of Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino’s long-term expansion, which will also include additional gaming options, new bars and amenities, and infrastructure upgrades.
