Twenty-Nine Palms Supports Holiday Community Youth Program

COACHELLA, CA – The Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians is supporting San Bernardino County’s Sheriff’s Employees’ Benefit Association (SEBA) “Shop With a Cop” program this holiday season.

Team members from the tribe’s two casinos, Spotlight 29 Casino and Tortoise Rock Casino – including 15 members of their Department of Public Safety – participated in the event, which marked the second SEBA “Shop With a Cop” event the tribe has supported in 2025. During the summer the tribe worked with SEBA to take local school children shopping for clothes and school supplies prior to the start of the school year.

The tribe extended an invitation for the Armed Services YMCA in Twentynine Palms to join the “Shop With A Cop” event. They welcomed 25 children of service members stationed at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC), along with an additional 25 children from the local community.

During the event, SEBA paired each child with a law enforcement officer or member of the tribe’s public safety team and provided them with a $200 Walmart gift card and a large Santa sack. Officers accompanied the children throughout the store, assisting them with selecting gifts and ensuring a memorable holiday experience.

“Supporting programs like ‘Shop With a Cop’ reflects who we are as a tribe – coming together to care for the children and families in our community,” said Tribal Chairman Darrell Mike of the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians. “We are proud to partner with local law enforcement and our service men and women that share our commitment to making a positive difference in our local communities during the holiday season.”
