Sycuan Donates $197,000 to Non-Profits

EL CAJON, CA – Sycuan Casino Resort presented $197,000 to 26 charities during the 19th Holiday Gift Giving Ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 2. The donation contributed to each of the non-profits diverse mission, ranging in health, youth services, veterans’ assistance, the arts and environmental conservation.

The event opened with a hosted breakfast where attendees networked with Sycuan Tribal Council members, Sycuan Casino Resort leaders and other non-profit representatives. After breakfast, Joshua Muse, Vice Chairman of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, welcomed attendees and thanked non-profit leaders for their continued commitment to the community.

“With the gifts this morning, we honor your humanity, your heart for service and in dedicating your calling to those who need a helping hand,” said Muse. “On behalf of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, Sycuan Casino Resort and Singing Hills Golf Club, thank you and happy holidays.”

Each year, leaders of the Sycuan Tribal Council, Sycuan Casino Resort and Singing Hills Golf Course individually select a charity to support. During the event, each non-profit then receives a donation on behalf of Sycuan to help further their respected mission.

The selected non-profits were: Alex Morgan Foundation; Alpine Acres; Alzheimer’s Association of San Diego; Alzheimer’s San Diego; American Foundation for Suicide Prevention; Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego; Border Angels; Burn Institute; East County Transitional Living Center; ElderHelp San Diego; Good Neighbor Gardens; It’s the Pits Dog Rescue; Lindy Waters III Foundation; Monarch School; NMDP, formerly known as the National Marrow Donor Program and Be The Match; Rady Children’s Hospital – Cancer Center; Ride Above Disability Therapeutic Riding Center; Ronald McDonald House Charities; San Diego Brain Injury Foundation; San Diego For Every Child; Friends of San Pasqual Academy; SDPOA Foundation – The Childcare Center; Skinny Gene Project; Sports 4 Kids; TIPS San Diego; and Urban Street Angels.
