SIOUX CITY, IA – WinnaVegas Casino Resort and the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska have donated $5,000 to support The Warming Shelter, a Siouxland non-profit. The contribution will help fund the organization’s programs, daily operations, and other essential needs.

Founded in 2013, The Warming Shelter is Sioux City’s only low-barrier emergency shelter, providing trauma-informed, life-saving refuge to individuals and families experiencing homelessness across Siouxland. Its mission is to create a safe and welcoming environment for those with nowhere else to turn – a temporary home where every guest is supported, accepted, and cared for. The organization is committed to treating every individual with dignity and compassion, meeting people exactly where they are on their journey.

“I’m deeply grateful for the support and for the blessing of our connection with the Winnebago Tribe and the team at WinnaVegas Casino Resort,” said Shayla Moore, Warming Shelter Executive Director. “I can’t thank them enough for choosing the Warming Shelter for this donation. Their support will make a profound difference in our mission.”

The Warming Shelter addresses immediate needs – safe shelter, meals, hygiene resources, and security – while fostering dignity, accountability, and pathways toward long-term stability. The organization walks alongside each guest as they rebuild their lives with hope and a strengthened network of community support.

“The Winnebago Tribe understands the importance of the positive work and impact the Shelter has on the Siouxland community,” said Tom Teesdale, WinnaVegas Casino Resort General Manager. “We’re honored to help make a difference in the lives of those the shelter supports and to help foster the future success of this crucial community organization.”
