SAN DIEGO, CA – Singing Hills Golf Club at Sycuan is celebrating its 70th anniversary, marking seven decades of growth and community partnership this month.
“Celebrating 70 years reminds us how far Singing Hills has come, and we’re proud to continue shaping its future for our guests and community,” said Sycuan Chairman Cody Martinez. “From surviving the flood in 1979 to redesigning the golf club and bringing San Diego’s first professional soccer team, we want to thank everyone – the community, partners, and employees – who have supported us along the way.”
Since the Sycuan Tribe’s 2001 acquisition, their leadership has transformed the golf club and elevated it to a new standard in Southern California. Their guidance has led to recent accomplishments including the remodel of Red Tail Bar & Grill, the Best Golf Club award, and the 2023 development of the official training center for San Diego FC and the Right to Dream Academy.
To celebrate, the award-winning golf shop at Singing Hills Golf Club will offer a limited-edition 70th-anniversary golf ball and ball marker, available for purchase in April.
This celebration also honors the legacy that began in 1956 – a legacy rooted in founder Cecil Hollingsworth and his partners recognizing the natural beauty of the “singing hills” in Dehesa Valley. They opened the first course, Oak Glen, and later expanded into a 54‑hole golf destination with Pine and Willow Glen. Redesigned by Ted Robinson Sr., the golf course overcame the winter flooding of 1979 and reopened with renewed strength.
