COACHELLA, CA – The Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians, in partnership with 29 Palms Marine Corps Community Services and Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center, has launched a free shuttle service for Marines and their families stationed at the 29 Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center in Twentynine Palms where Tribal Chairman, Darrell Mike, was joined by city officials and shuttle program partners to launch the first shuttle.

“It is an honor for the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians to provide this shuttle service in partnership with community leaders,” said Chairman Mike. “We’re proud to offer free, convenient and safe transportation that supports the Twentynine Palms community and local Marines that complement Morongo Basin Transit’s current service.”
The shuttle service features Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans, each accommodating up to 15 passengers. The route includes stops at the Joshua Tree National Park (JTNP) Visitors Center in midtown – providing access to local businesses – and continues to Tortoise Rock Casino. The shuttle operates a round-trip loop, running Friday through Sunday and on holidays.
The service is free for active-duty members and their families, available to those 18 years and older with a valid military ID, or minors accompanied by an adult. Tortoise Rock Casino guests with a 29 Rewards player card are eligible to ride to the JTNP Visitors Center at Freedom Plaza.
