AIRWAY HEIGHTS, WA – Northern Quest Resort & Casino will recognize Native American Heritage Month throughout November with cultural programming highlighting the history and traditions of the Kalispel Tribe of Indians and other Native communities throughout the region.
Guests can experience Native culture through live performances, Indigenous art and cultural events featuring Native artists and tribal members, offering opportunities to learn about traditions and celebrate Native communities.
“Native American Heritage Month is a time to honor the resilience and achievements of our people,” said Tina Nenema, Kalispel Tribal Member and Resort Experience Project Manager at Northern Quest Resort & Casino. “Tribal communities throughout the region continue to create more opportunities to celebrate our heritage, share our traditions, and bring people together.”
Pacific Northwest flavors will also be part of the celebration. Masselow’s Steakhouse, East Pan Asian Cuisine and EPIC will offer special menu items featuring regional ingredients such as bison, trout and huckleberries. Kalispel culture will also be featured at the resort’s spa and Windfall store.
Throughout November, Northern Quest will host a combination of free and ticketed public events featuring Native traditions, music and movement, providing additional opportunities for guests to experience and learn about Native culture.
“This year, the Kalispel Tribe is placing special emphasis on traditional dances and honoring those who keep our heritage alive through the enduring power of drums, songs, and movement,” said Nenema. “The č̓maqs ‘Outstanding’ Dance Championships invite people of all cultures to experience the heartbeat of Native culture, hear the stories carried through song, and celebrate the outstanding tribal people who continue to carry these traditions forward.”
