USK, WA – The Pend Oreille Valley Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), a Kalispel Tribal program, is accepting donations to help provide Christmas gifts for kids in the child welfare system during their 6th Annual CASA Christmas Project.

Pend Oreille Valley CASA provides advocacy and other services for youth involved in child welfare cases in Pend Oreille County Superior Court and Kalispel Tribal Court. Each holiday season, every child in the program creates a personalized wish list, which is compiled into one Amazon wishlist for easy access. Community members can participate by selecting and purchasing gifts directly from this wishlist or by providing a monetary donation to the program. Once the gifts are received, CASA staff and volunteers wrap the gifts and ensure they are delivered to each child’s home, so every child in the program can experience the joy of finding presents under the tree on Christmas morning.

This year, CASA is joining forces with Kalispel Casino and other local businesses in an effort to reach more people and encourage donations. Informational flyers and QR code stickers linking to the 2025 CASA Christmas Project Amazon wishlist will be displayed at Kalispel Casino and at several coffee shops throughout Pend Oreille County beginning Monday, November 24.

“We are honored to partner with the CASA Christmas Project,” said Curt Holmes, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Kalispel Casino & Government Affairs for the Kalispel Tribe of Indians. “Caring for others is an important part of the Kalispel culture. Making the holidays brighter for local kids in the child welfare system is absolutely the right thing to do. We hope others will find it in their hearts to contribute as well.”
