Aurora_TheMission
The Mission in Gilbert, AZ

SUCCESSES: In spring of 2023, a project for two Grand Casino properties involving the comprehensive renovation of 1,050 guest rooms across two properties was announced. The purpose of the renovation was to update and refresh the guest rooms with a contemporary aesthetic more in keeping with the Grand Casino brand. In a gesture to celebrate traditions of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures hired an art consultant to curate original pieces from local artists that are now part of all the guest rooms and public spaces.

Aurora’s team worked closely with Cuningham Group Architects and PCL Construction to manage the scope of the project including manufacturer specification, material selection, budget, and timeframe requirements established by Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures. Ultimately, a combination of overseas and domestic manufacturers were used for the project to ensure budget, scope, and timeline needs were met. Mike Engel, Vice President of Hospitality Innovation at Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures, worked closely with Aurora throughout the remodel of the hotel rooms at Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Grand Casino Hinckley.

In addition to Grand Casino, Aurora Procurement Solutions has secured multiple tribal projects currently in development, with more projects underway.

“I always look forward to attending the IGA Show. The opportunity to catch up with connections and develop new relationships and attend a forum with its finger on the pulse of the industry is invaluable.” – John Hinton, Director of Native American Projects, Bergman Walls & Associates

SPOTLIGHT: At IGA 2026, BWA will showcase its approach to tribal casino gaming and hospitality design, going beyond amenities and square footages to focus on how these destinations are experienced, remembered, and sustained over time. Drawing from decades of gaming and hospitality work, and translating the energy and precision of Las Vegas and commercial gaming facility design into tribal properties, BWA brings a perspective that balances performance with meaning, while honoring the sovereignty that defines each client and community. The firm will highlight its work across tribal gaming environments, hotel and resort design, and long-range master planning, with an emphasis on creating spaces that feel immersive, intuitive, and deeply connected to place.

BWA’s process is highly collaborative, shaped through direct engagement with tribal leadership to ensure each project reflects a distinct cultural identity rather than a repeatable model. Equally important is BWA’s approach to renovation and expansion, where existing properties are not replaced, but reinterpreted and elevated. The focus is not just on growth, but on crafting destinations that remain relevant, competitive, and culturally grounded for generations.

Snoqualmie Hotel_BWA
Snoqualmie Casino & Hotel in Snoqualmie, WA

SUCCESSES: The recently completed expansion of the Snoqualmie Casino & Hotel marks the next chapter in the long-standing partnership between the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe and BWA (beginning with the original 2008 casino design). Drawing from the firm’s extensive experience in global gaming and hospitality design, BWA blended the excitement, energy, and scale of the Las Vegas Strip to thoughtfully modernize the property. The result transformed the property from a premier regional gambling destination into a world-class casino resort, pairing refined hospitality with a deep connection to place that respects the resort’s architectural roots.

BWA’s expansion includes a striking 10-story hotel tower featuring 210 luxury guest rooms with sweeping mountain and valley views; multiple dining venues; a destination spa and wellness retreat; a resort-style indoor and outdoor pool; and enlarged casino floor that increases the scale and vibrancy of the gaming experience. Adjacent to the hotel, a new 2,000-seat entertainment and convention center with a divisible ballroom provides flexible space for concerts, conferences, private events, and large gatherings. The updates elevate the patron experience while creating additional revenue generating opportunities for the tribe.

BWA also collaborated with the tribe’s cultural committee to integrate traditional tribal artwork and symbolic elements into the expansion’s design, honoring the tribe’s heritage and connection to the land.

“The Indian Gaming Tradeshow is a critical opportunity for us to connect directly with leaders who are navigating real challenges and opportunities across the industry. It’s an important forum for us to engage in thoughtful dialogue on how design can help drive resilience, differentiation, and long-term value.” – Brett K. Ewing, Principal, Cuningham

SPOTLIGHT: Cuningham is a nationally recognized architecture and interior design firm dedicated to creating enduring value for its partners and the communities it serves. The firm is trusted by sovereign nations across the country, as well as by leading gaming and entertainment organizations. By harnessing knowledge-backed insights and a responsive design approach, Cuningham helps clients confidently navigate today’s dynamic, ever-changing market conditions.

At the Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention 2026, the firm is highlighting how gaming resorts are poised for transformation amid increasing pressure across the industry. Among the many challenges are shifting demographics, the continued rise of online gaming, and a younger generation’s preference for experiences over possessions. At the same time, technological advancement continues to accelerate. Cashless systems, mobile platforms, robotics, AI, and digital interfaces are redefining how guests move through and interact with resort environments. For tribal casino resorts, this moment also presents a powerful opportunity to honor and amplify cultural heritage, storytelling, and connection to place – strengthening identity while elevating the guest journey.

Conference attendees are invited to visit Cuningham’s booth to engage in conversation on how aligning operations, design, and cultural integration from the outset of a project enables emerging technologies to support flexible, seamless environments that drive stronger brand differentiation, higher guest satisfaction, and long-term resilience.

SUCCESSES: Cuningham’s recent successes include several transformational projects that are advancing economic development, cultural identity, and community wellbeing.

In Pendleton, OR, Cuningham’s ongoing collaboration with the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation is reflected in the new hotel and event center expansion at Wildhorse Resort & Casino, currently under construction. The 10-story hotel tower will strengthen the resort’s position as the region’s leading entertainment destination by expanding capacity and modernizing offerings. Cuningham’s design strategically prepares the resort for long-term growth by increasing ease of movement and advancing a cohesive vision for a contemporary destination that authentically honors tribal identity and integrates world-class hospitality.

Cuningham partnered with Warner Gaming and the Ione Band of Miwok Indians to develop Acorn Ridge Casino, a new gaming and entertainment destination in California’s Sierra Foothills that celebrated its grand opening in February. As the tribe’s first gaming enterprise, the casino is conceived as a strategic investment in long-term economic growth – creating a bold, recognizable presence while remaining appropriately scaled and flexible to support future expansion. The design’s influence draws directly from the region’s landscape and culture, and embraces the mild, year-round climate through an indoor-outdoor concept uncommon in the industry.

At the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tejon, Gasser supplied all table games and bar seating for the property’s grand opening in November 2025. More than 490 stools were installed, featuring a curated mix of Gasser’s Park Avenue stools on the main gaming floor and Camber stools in the high-limit areas. This combination delivers a refined balance of style, durability, and comfort, ensuring guests can enjoy extended play in a premium environment.

Another standout project is Acorn Ridge Casino, which opened in February 2026. Gasser provided 500 Alto Slot stools and 66 Alto Table Games stools for the property. The Alto line continues to be a proven performer, offering ergonomic support and a clean, modern design that enhances both player comfort and floor appeal.

Additionally, Gasser has been part of the expansion at Graton Resort & Casino, scheduled for full completion in May 2026. Building on a longstanding partnership, having supplied seating throughout the original property, Gasser delivered more than 1,000 slot stools and high-limit chairs for this expansion. This continued collaboration reflects the trust in Gasser’s quality, consistency, and ability to support evolving property needs with seating solutions designed for longevity, comfort, and visual impact.

Across each of these installations, Gasser’s focus remains the same: providing thoughtfully engineered seating that enhances the player experience, supports operational efficiency, and complements the unique identity of each property.

Kelly DeVine

“IGA is a unique opportunity to engage with our tribal partners at a pivotal moment, as many enter a new phase where gaming has laid a strong foundation for lasting growth. Our team at HBG Design are passionate about helping tribes plan strategically so their developments can evolve and thrive for generations to come.” – Kelly DeVine, Principal & Director of Strategic Partnerships, HBG Design

SPOTLIGHT: At HBG Design’s booth, Principals Kelly DeVine, Joe Baruffaldi, and Danny Valle will share their insights and expertise in turning today’s gaming successes into sustainable, cohesive economic development ecosystems that drive long-term community growth and prosperity. By aligning casinos with hotels, convenience stores and fuel centers, retail, event centers, wellness offerings, and community and cultural assets, HBG is helping tribes create smarter, more resilient development models, keeping revenue on tribal land, supporting diversified growth, and establishing a clear roadmap for generational impact.

The conversation continues with Joe Baruffaldi’s “Smarter Builds: Innovation and Technology in Tribal Casino Development” session on March 31 at 4 p.m., where he will share strategies for phased growth, flexible design, modular construction, and technology planning. Examples will showcase how thoughtful design drives efficiency, lowers costs, speeds timelines, supports future growth, and enhances operations and guest experiences, generating revenue and opportunities for future development. HBG Design’s work with tribal partners reflects a consistent focus: long-term performance driven by strategic, forward-thinking design.

HBG_Ho-Chunk Beloit
Ho-Chunk Gaming Beloit in Beloit, WI

SUCCESSES: From master planning that maps phased growth, to multi-purpose amenity design, efficient construction strategies, and integrated technology, HBG ensures flexibility and cost-efficiency while enhancing the guest experience. One key lesson in tribal gaming development: start with a master plan that anticipates growth before the first phase opens.

Ho-Chunk Gaming Beloit, opening late summer 2026, reflects this approach. Early planning of infrastructure, circulation, and back-of-house systems allows phased expansion without disrupting operations, protecting revenue while enabling growth. Projects like the Karuk Tribe’s Rain Rock Casino & Hotel in Yreka, CA, and the Shawnee Nation’s Golden Mesa Casino & Hotel in Guymon, OK, showcase HBG’s adaptability to different geographic markets – from supporting eco-tourism in Northern California to elevated hotel quality that captures the underserved Oklahoma panhandle market.

At Gun Lake Casino Resort for the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians, the Wawyé Oasis expansion demonstrates how flexible, multi-purpose design drives results. The 32,000 sq. ft. atrium, combining a year-round resort pool and event venue under an efficient space frame structure, increased programming flexibility and contributed to a 20% rise in post-expansion revenue. Across every project, HBG applies the same principle: plan early, design smart, and create environments built to perform and grow over time.

We’re focused on making systems more responsive, easier to use, and better aligned with the needs of tribal enterprises – helping teams act on information faster while maintaining control of their data and operations.” – Andrew Cardno, Co-Founder & CTO, QCI

SPOTLIGHT: At IGA 2026, QCI is highlighting its QCI Agentic Platform, representing the next evolution of its core system and a major step forward in how tribal gaming resorts operate. The platform introduces an agentic approach – embedding AI directly into day-to-day operations so teams can move from insight to action in real time. Built on QCI’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) and deployed securely on-premise, it allows operators to maintain full control of their data while connecting gaming, marketing, player development, and hotel operations in a single environment. Teams can interact with the system using natural language, quickly identify opportunities, and execute workflows without switching tools, improving speed, coordination, and decision-making across the property. This evolution builds on QCI’s existing platform and product suite, including Chatalytics for conversational data access, QCI Dispatch for real-time task coordination, and the latest AGI56.1 platform enhancements. QCI will also highlight expanded resort capabilities across hotel, RV, and entertainment operations. Together, these innovations reflect QCI’s continued focus on practical, easy-to-use technology that helps tribal gaming resorts operate more efficiently and enhance the guest experience.

QCI

SUCCESSES: QCI has recently expanded its successful partnership with Tulalip Resort Casino in Washington, further strengthening its enterprise deployment. With the addition of QCI Host and QCI Marketing, Tulalip has enhanced its ability to prioritize guest engagement, optimize reinvestment strategies, and maximize high-value interactions. By unifying data across teams and enabling faster action, the property has improved coordination, increased marketing effectiveness, and continued elevating its guest experience.

A broader shift across QCI’s tribal customer base is that nearly half are now using Chatalytics, QCI’s natural language interface. This capability allows teams to interact with their data more intuitively, uncover insights faster, and take immediate action – further improving responsiveness and operational efficiency.

These advancements highlight how QCI supports tribal operators with practical, easy-to-use technology that drives performance while strengthening the guest experience.

“Participating in the Indian Gaming Association Tradeshow is an opportunity for TribalHub to connect with the broader tribal gaming community, strengthen relationships, and continue supporting the leaders driving innovation across tribal enterprises.” – Shannon Bouschor, Director of Operations, TribalHub

The company is showcasing how TribalHub membership supports executives and technology leaders by providing access to a trusted community, relevant resources, and meaningful peer connections that help drive smarter decisions and stronger outcomes.

The company will also share information about Tribal-ISAC, a platform for cyber threat information sharing, prevention, and response. SUCCESSES: Held from February 17- 20, 2026, the TribalHub Cybersecurity Summit featured three days of expert-led sessions, hands-on training, and networking opportunities dedicated to strengthening cyber defenses for tribes and tribal enterprises, bringing together executives and technology leaders from tribes across the country. Attendees engaged in interactive sessions covering emerging threats, best practices, and practical solutions tailored specifically for tribal environments.

Wipfli

IGA Booth #2014

Grant Eve

“At the Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention, Wipfli looks forward to highlighting solutions that deliver immediate and long-term value for tribal casinos. Our energy tax incentive services help tribal casinos leverage federal programs to offset the cost of clean energy investments like solar, geothermal, and energy storage, while Salesforce Marketing Cloud enables more personalized, data-driven patron engagement across digital channels. These offerings support sustainability, operational efficiency, and smarter growth for tribal gaming enterprises.” – Grant Eve, Partner & Tribal Industry Leader, Wipfli

SPOTLIGHT: At IGA 2026, Wipfli will highlight its specialized advisory services focused on energy tax incentives available to tribal casinos, with an emphasis on recent tax law changes affecting project eligibility, timing, and monetization. These incentives can significantly reduce capital costs, strengthen long-term energy economics, and support sustainability goals through clean energy investments.

Wipfli will demonstrate how tribal casinos can leverage federal tax credits for solar, wind, geothermal, battery energy storage systems (BESS), combined heat and power (CHP), and other clean electricity technologies. Legislation enacted on July 4, 2025 accelerated the phase-out of solar and wind credits, making project timing critical. Projects beginning construction after July 4, 2026 must be placed in service by December 31, 2027, while several other technologies remain eligible through 2032.

Wipfli’s energy incentives team will explain how tribal casinos can still offset up to 50–60% of project costs and navigate the elective pay (direct pay) process for tax-exempt entities. The team will also highlight opportunities tied to EV and charging infrastructure, alternative fuels, and the Section 179D deduction. Wipfli helps tribal casinos maximize incentives to lower operating costs and advance energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.

SUCCESSES: In addition to energy tax incentives, Wipfli has recently achieved significant success at tribal properties with the implementation of the Salesforce platform. The core Salesforce platform acts as a central hub, creating a unified, 360-degree profile of every patron. This empowers VIP hosts, customer service representatives, and group sales teams with real-time insights, such as gaming behavior, recent visits, and specific preferences, allowing them to provide proactive, white-glove service. By breaking down these data silos, the casino can truly understand the complete value of a guest across both gaming and non-gaming resort amenities.

While the core platform organizes this valuable data, Salesforce Marketing Cloud activates it to deliver highly targeted, automated communications. Marketing teams can build hyper- personalized player journeys, reaching patrons via email, SMS, or mobile push notifications at the exact right moment, such as triggering a targeted free-play offer to win back a lapsed player or sending a real-time dining comp when a VIP steps on the property. Ultimately, this allows tribal casinos to stop relying on generic mass-marketing, optimize their reinvestment strategies, and increase their overall share of the guest’s entertainment wallet, all while keeping tribal data highly secure.

At this year’s IGA show, Wipfli will demonstrate how these services can be effectively utilized by tribal casinos to enhance their operations and contribute to a more sustainable future.
