PESHAWBESTOWN MI – Grand Traverse Resort and Casinos has announced the official grand opening of its newly renovated Leelanau Sands Lodge – a reimagined hospitality experience that blends modern comfort with rustic charm and cultural connection. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Friday, June 13, to mark the new chapter for the property and the region.
Overlooking the stunning Grand Traverse Bay, the redesigned lodge offers 51 beautifully updated guest rooms, warm Northern Michigan hospitality, and artistic touches that reflect the heritage of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. Guests will enjoy the perfect mix of rustic charm and contemporary comfort – whether they’re winding down after a night at Leelanau Sands Casino or seeking a peaceful retreat.

“This renovation is about more than aesthetics – it’s about creating a space that welcomes our guests with the spirit of the land, culture, and community,” said Jesse Ward, GM at Leelanau Sands Casino & Lodge. “The new Leelanau Sands Lodge delivers a fresh, elevated stay while preserving the rustic charm our guests have always loved. We are incredibly proud to open our doors and share it with the public.”
“Leelanau Sands Lodge is a shining example of our commitment to investing in our properties, our culture, and our guests,” said Johnny Barrientoz, CEO of Grand Traverse Resort & Casinos. “This transformation reflects not just where we are today, but where we’re headed as we continue to create destination experiences rooted in Northern Michigan’s beauty and our tribal values.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 13 will feature remarks from tribal and property leadership, guided tours of the newly redesigned rooms, and light refreshments to celebrate the transformation. Leelanau Sands Lodge is now open and accepting reservations.
