BATTLE CREEK, MI – FireKeepers Casino Hotel has completed its Tower 1 renovation, a multi-phase refresh that modernized the resort’s original hotel tower while maintaining design continuity across the property. The project included updates to all guest rooms and suites, corridors, and elevator lobbies, culminating in the full redesign of the two Presidential Suites, the standout feature of the renovation.

Planning for the Tower 1 refresh began shortly after the opening of Tower 2, when the original tower began to show signs of wear after more than a decade of use. The goal was to update the space with a fresh, upscale look while keeping popular elements guests discovered in the newer tower. Construction began in July 2024 and concluded in December 2025, encompassing all 242 guest rooms and suites in Tower 1.

The renovation presented unique challenges, including FireKeepers’ commitment to maintaining guest occupancy throughout the project, as well as a complete replacement of the tower’s plumbing system. Despite these complexities, the project was completed on schedule and under budget.

“This renovation reflects our continued investment in providing an exceptional guest experience across every part of our property,” said Frank Tecumseh, CEO of FireKeepers Casino Hotel. “Tower 1 holds a special place in our history, and this refresh allows us to honor that legacy while delivering the elevated level of comfort, luxury, and design our guests expect today.”

The Tower 1 renovation was led by TBE Architects, with Clark Construction serving as construction manager. Key construction partners included Swan Electric, Andy J. Egan Co., Moore Trosper Construction Co., Integrity Interiors, Murray Painting Co., and Jackson Automatic Sprinkler. Procurement for all furniture, fixtures, and equipment was managed by PMI Tribal Services.

“We are honored to be the design partner once again for the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Pottawatomi and the leadership team at FireKeepers Casino Hotel as Tower 1 and each of its 243 guest rooms underwent significant renovation,” said Luke Jumper, President & CEO of TBE Architects. “We are particularly excited to deliver bold designs in the Presidential Suites that balance luxury and sophistication with the elemental beauty of fire and water.”

While standard guest rooms and suites received a cosmetic refresh, the two Presidential Suites were completely reimagined from the ground up. Designed as the centerpiece of the Tower 1 renovation, the suites deliver a bold, luxurious experience that balances comfort, entertainment, and refined design.

Located on the seventh and eighth floors, the Presidential Suites share the same layout but feature two distinct design themes inspired by fire and water. The Fire Suite incorporates rich reds, oranges, deep browns, and gold accents, while the Water Suite features cool tones of blue, white, gray, and silver – giving each suite its own personality while offering the same elevated amenities.

Both suites feature open layouts with custom finishes, illuminated ceiling details, and carefully selected materials that create a space ideal for both relaxation and entertaining. A dramatic floor-to-ceiling fireplace serves as a central focal point, complemented by natural stone, metallic accents, and reflective design elements throughout.

Across from the fireplace, a curved bar anchors the entertainment area and includes a large-screen television and a private shuffleboard table, exclusive to the Presidential Suites. The bedroom continues the elevated design with a custom headboard inspired by each suite’s elemental theme, along with soft lighting and warm finishes that create a welcoming retreat.

The master bathroom delivers the biggest “wow” moment. Designed to feel like a private spa, the space features a custom marble floor medallion, a curved stone vanity accented with Himalayan salt panels, a spacious shower, a freestanding soaking tub, and a private dry sauna.

With the completion of the Tower 1 renovation and the unveiling of the redesigned Presidential Suites, FireKeepers Casino Hotel continues to elevate its luxury accommodations, offering refreshed spaces and standout experiences designed to exceed guest expectations.
