NAVIGATING 2021: Cherokee Nation has remained steadfast in its efforts to prioritize the health and safety of its tribal citizens, team members and guests above all else. We’re working with our partners at the state and federal levels to help the communities within our reservation and build back the local economy. We will continue to serve as a leader in the entertainment and hospitality industry in northeast Oklahoma, and it is important that we continue to press forward with a renewed sense of togetherness, and a hopeful outlook for the good things to come in 2021.

CHALLENGES/OPPORTUNITIES: The impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic will continue to be felt across Indian Country for years to come. Through the many challenges, Cherokee Nation and Cherokee Nation Businesses have worked diligently to identify best practices and new opportunities to adapt and improve our business operations. Extra protective steps continue to be taken to ensure our patrons and our staff remain safe and healthy, and this must continue to be a priority. These strategic ideas and innovative solutions have proven effective and will help shape how we transition to a post-pandemic world.

KEY TO SUCCESS: Our response to COVID-19 was proactive, aggressive and resolute. We made every business decision based on medical science, facts and compassion. Our long-term success depended heavily on our ability to adapt and change. As conditions began to improve, Cherokee Nation Businesses introduced a phased approach called “Responsible Hospitality” to begin reopening our businesses. The plan outlined protocols for everything from gaming to food and beverage services, emphasizing enhanced cleaning and safety protocols, physical distancing, limited occupancy and more. These industry-leading standards were key to maintaining the trust and transparency expected by our team members and guests, as well as the Cherokee communities where we live and work.

FUTURE DEVELOPMENT: The Cherokee Nation has built its legacy on resiliency, determination and perseverance. And that’s what we continue to do today. We’re focused on the future and are investing in things that will further expand our footprint in economic development, job creation and critical services to the Cherokee people. We currently operate nine Cherokee Casinos on our reservation in northeast Oklahoma, as well as our flagship operation, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa. Our reputation for excellence is unparalleled in Oklahoma and across the nation, and we will keep enhancing ways to improve the guest experience. Cherokee Nation will remain a destination of choice.
