SLOAN, IA – WinnaVegas Casino Resort will hold its annual 5K “Walk for a Cause” event, scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, on the casino property. The walk/run will begin at 9:00 a.m., with registration starting at 8:00 a.m. The family-friendly event invites participants of all ages to join for a $10 entry fee, with 100% of proceeds supporting the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.
Proceeds from this year’s event will directly benefit the tribe’s various cultural events. The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska hosts several major cultural events annually, anchored by their massive Homecoming Celebration and Powwow, which draws thousands to the Winnebago reservation. These gatherings feature traditional dancing, singing, regalia, and communal meals that celebrate Ho-Chunk heritage, honor tribal veterans, and observe historical tribal milestones.
“This annual event is a meaningful opportunity for our community to come together in support of the important cultural celebrations and traditions of the Winnebago Tribe,” said Tom Teesdale, GM of WinnaVegas Casino Resort. “We are proud to continue hosting this 5K walk/run benefit; a tradition that not only encourages health and wellness, but also helps preserve and celebrate the rich culture and heritage of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. It’s an event we look forward to each year and one we’re honored to support.”
Participants will have the chance to compete for nearly $5,000 in prize money, awarded across several categories including Men’s, Women’s, Youth, and Tiny Tots. All levels of runners and walkers are encouraged to take part in this unique cultural and wellness experience.
