TEMECULA, CA – Pechanga Resort Casino is preparing for its 21st annual pow wow taking place at the Summit Events Center Friday, January 5 through Sunday, January 7, 2024. Native culture and artistry will take center stage during the free, three-day event. Guests of Pechanga Resort Casino and those in the community will be treated to a free fireworks display on Friday, January 5 beginning at 7:00pm.
“The Pechanga Pow Wow is a celebration of tribal culture and community from throughout the U.S. and Canada with tribal dance, music, and songs,” said Ken Perez, President of the Pechanga Development Corporation. “We welcome guests and participants of all ages, from those attending their first pow wow to those who have attended countless. It is a remarkable gathering that hosts hundreds of tribes from across the U.S and Canada, each with unique styles of dance and song from their respective regions, and provides a platform for learning about tribal traditions.”
Filled with tribal singing, dancing, Native American food and artisan crafts, the Pechanga Pow Wow has historically been one of the largest in the entire western United States. The event is a free, interactive and educational cultural event for all ages. Non-Native spectators can become part of the experience and join in the pow wow’s round dances and social dances throughout the three-day weekend.
On Friday, the Pechanga Band of Indians also puts on a free fireworks show. The pyrotechnics will be set off from the Journey golf course and will begin at 7:00pm on Friday, January 5.
Pow wow guests can enjoy perusing the artisan jewelry and craft section of the event, filled with authentic tribal creations. Additionally, the Pechanga Pow Wow features more than a dozen food vendors presenting everything from fluffy, doughy fry bread and Indian tacos to buffalo burgers and tamales.
