UNCASVILLE, CT – Mohegan Sun Arena is undergoing a multi-phase, $30 million renovation that will update seating, concessions, concourses, entrances and premium hospitality areas at the 10,000-seat venue. The project, developed in collaboration with SCI Architects, comes as the arena marks its 25th anniversary.

Most construction will take place around the arena’s event schedule, with the venue temporarily closing from Dec. 15 through mid-February to complete major portions of the project. The arena is scheduled to reopen Feb. 28 with a performance by Breaking Benjamin with special guests Starset, P.O.D. and Filter.

“For 25 years, Mohegan Sun Arena has set the standard for live entertainment in the Northeast,” said Joe Soper, VP of Sports & Entertainment for Mohegan. “After hosting more than 4,250 performances and welcoming nearly 18 million guests since 2001, we’re really excited for this next chapter of Mohegan Sun Arena. The goal is simple: to create a more immersive, comfortable and thrilling venue for fans, as well as our artists and promoters.”

The first phase of the renovation is already underway. During the winter closure, work will include replacement of seating throughout the arena and new lighting, finishes and flooring on the concourse level. Concessions will receive upgraded kitchens and LED screens, while the first phase of restroom renovations will include updated fixtures, lighting and accessibility improvements.

The arena’s entrances near Comix Roadhouse and Casino of the Sky will also be renovated with new 25-foot-wide LED screens and additional displays. Existing beer garden outlets will be converted into Marketplace concepts featuring more than 30 taps, craft cocktails, a new grill and full kitchen. The Marketplace at the arena’s north end will incorporate Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology. Additional work includes upgraded digital displays in the lower bowl, elevators and electrical systems.

In 2027, the project will continue with construction of a nearly 4,000-square-foot VIP lounge connected to the Casino of the Sky entrance. The space will accommodate up to 150 guests and include a full bar.

“As Mohegan Sun celebrates 30 years of creating memorable experiences and Mohegan Sun Arena marks 25 years of world-class entertainment, this investment reflects our commitment to continually evolving to meet the expectations of guests,” said Jeff Hamilton, President & GM of Mohegan Sun. “We’re focused on reimagining how guests experience Mohegan Sun at every touchpoint, from live entertainment and dining to accommodations and premium amenities. By investing in the resort and its experiences, we’re building on our legacy of innovation and ensuring Mohegan Sun remains a premier destination for years to come.”

Mohegan Sun is also planning a $22 million renovation of Earth Tower beginning next summer, with additional details to be announced at a later date.
