HARRIS, MI – Island Resort & Casino is expanding its offerings for meetings and conventions with the opening of 16,900 sq. ft. of brand-new event space. It’s part of a $19 million investment that also includes a new Sweetgrass Golf Shop. A new nine-hole golf course, the Cedar Course (Kishki), is in the construction phase and will open in 2026.

The new expanded convention center will be christened with events surrounding the Island Resort Championship Epson Tour Event, June 20-22.

The modern design of the expanded convention center includes high-volume ceilings, audio and visual accommodations, a high-capacity kitchen and multiple event bars. Outdoor courtyards complement the existing architecture, providing space for an array of events, including weddings, banquets, business conventions and special events. The new grand ballroom will have the capacity to accommodate an additional 750 guests seated and up to 1,200 guests for larger expos and events, adding a much-needed large event space to the area.

“The new facility is designed to better accommodate larger events, including business conventions,” said Tony Mancilla, Island Resort & Casino General Manager. “By offering expanded meeting space conveniently located between Lower Michigan and Northern Wisconsin, we will meet the increased demand from regional groups. Many of these groups are looking to have multiple day events during the week. We are in the unique position to also provide hotel accommodations sufficient for these large conventions.”
