Gun Lake Casino Supports American Cancer Society Campaign

WAYLAND, MI – For the ninth consecutive year, Gun Lake Casino (GLC) is supporting the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” campaign. Last year, GLC raised over $23,000 and is looking to surpass that figure this year. In an effort to do so, in October, GLC will raise money for the cause, while also volunteering and hosting numerous events. Team members and guests can donate and participate in events like the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Grand Rapids.

“Every year, [the month of October] is very special for all of us here at Gun Lake Casino,” said Jose Flores, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Gun Lake Casino. “We know that our team members and community members have been impacted by this disease, which makes our breast cancer awareness campaign one of our most important events of the year. We encourage everyone to donate, educate, and volunteer.”

Throughout the month, GLC is offering several ways for team members and guests to donate to the American Cancer Society in support of the cause to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer. Each Monday in October, guests can donate to the American Cancer Society to receive a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $20, in free slot play. Additionally, every day in October, Breast Cancer Awareness t-shirts are available at the Appliques Gift Shop with all proceeds going directly to the American Cancer Society. GLC is also offering food and beverage specialty items as part of the fundraising effort, with all proceeds going directly to the American Cancer Society.

On Monday, October 2 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm, the American Cancer Society (ACS) will kick off Breast Cancer Awareness month outside the south entrance of the casino. ACS will return every Monday from 11:00am – 2:00pm inside the casino, at the south entrance. Educational materials are available to all guests.

Gun Lake Casino is also once again the presenting sponsor for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Calder Plaza in downtown Grand Rapids. The event will take place on October 21, 2023.
