Choctaw Cultural Center to Host Annual Fall Festival

Choctaw Cultural Center

DURANT, OK – The Choctaw Cultural Center will host its annual Fall Festival Oct. 16–17, featuring traditional Choctaw cultural demonstrations, interactive activities and seasonal events for all ages. For the Choctaw people, fall has long marked an important seasonal transition, reflecting a deep connection to the land and its cycles, and festival attendees will have the opportunity to experience and learn about these traditions throughout the weekend.

The event will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Guests can explore a farmer’s market and art market, along with stickball demonstrations, cultural demonstrations and carnival booths in the Living Village. Additional activities include Choctaw social dancing, Choctaw storytelling and mini-pumpkin painting for kids while supplies last. Morning and afternoon workshops on cooking traditional Choctaw dishes will also be offered and require separate registration through the Fall Festival webpage.

The festival will also feature the return of its corn-eating contest, where participants compete to eat three cobs the fastest, along with a 360 photo booth, Guess the Kernel Game and cornhole.

Regular ticket prices apply. Admission is complimentary for Choctaw tribal members and Choctaw Cultural Center members. The Champuli Café and Hvshi Gift Store will also be open during the festival.
