Blue Lake Casino Hotel to Host Yurok Artist Carl Avery Exhibition

BLUE LAKE, CA – Blue Lake Casino Hotel will welcome back Native American artist Carl Avery for a second exhibition, with an opening reception scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27, from 4:30-6 p.m. in the Redwood Gallery & Kinetik Lounge.

The exhibition follows Avery’s first showing at the property and will feature a new collection of works focused on nature, culture and heritage.

“Carl Avery’s work left a lasting impression on everyone who visited his first exhibition, and we’re honored to have him return,” said Stan Kott, President & Director of Operations of Blue Lake Casino Hotel. “His art brings a Native voice to our space, and we couldn’t be more excited to share his newest work with our guests.”

Avery is a self-taught Yurok artist who has worked professionally since 2007, including painting murals, designing logos and producing Native American art and prints. Raised on the Hupa reservation, Avery draws inspiration from nature and cultural design.

Over the past decade, Avery has painted murals throughout Northern California, with work incorporating Native American traditions, cultural themes and elements of the natural environment.

Avery will attend the Aug. 27 opening reception, where attendees can view the new collection and learn more about his work and creative process.
