HARRIS, MI – Island Resort & Casino will open its Cedar Course (Kishki) for limited preview play beginning Friday, August 7. The nine-hole layout is the resort’s third golf course, joining Sweetgrass and Sage Run, and will fully open in 2027.
The course’s Potawatomi name, Kishki, means “cedar,” one of the four sacred medicines representing protection and purification. The three course names — Sweetgrass, Sage Run, and Cedar — together reflect the property’s cultural heritage.
Cedar will operate in preview mode for the remainder of the 2026 season, with limited tee times available through online booking at $45 per player. Guests on golf packages can reserve Cedar tee times separately from their package. The course will be fully integrated into Island Resort & Casino’s golf packages starting in 2027.

Designed by golf course architect Paul Albanese, the Cedar Course draws on Golden Age golf architecture principles. Built on gentler terrain adjacent to Sage Run, the course has less pronounced elevation changes than Sage Run but more contour than Sweetgrass.
“This may be my favorite site of all three courses we’ve done up here,” said Albanese. “It just sets up really well for some great golf. Cedar gives players a chance to experience the strategy, creativity, and fun that defined the Golden Age – without it ever feeling forced.”
Cedar draws inspiration from courses including National Golf Links and Prestwick. Signature holes include the opening “Bottle” hole (inspired by National Golf Links); the par-5 sixth with its Sahara-style bunker and boomerang green (inspired by Alister Mackenzie); and the drivable eighth (inspired by Riviera Country Club’s 10th). The course also includes a Double Plateau third hole and a Punchbowl green with Church Pew bunkers at the ninth.
Island Resort & Casino now offers 45 holes of golf across Sweetgrass, Sage Run, and Cedar. The property also includes 454 guest rooms and suites, a spa, multiple dining venues, live entertainment, and a casino. Golf packages currently include Sweetgrass, Sage Run, Greywalls, and Timberstone, with Cedar joining packages in 2027. The resort is accessible through the Escanaba, Iron Mountain, and Marquette airports.
