TISHOMINGO, OK – Chickasaw Nation Governor Chris Anoatubby recently led a groundbreaking ceremony for the Chickasaw Nation Tishomingo Youth Club, a new facility designed to accommodate growing participation in the youth club and provide space for programming after school and during school breaks. Chickasaw Youth Clubs have offered activities focused on social, cultural, physical, and academic growth for more than two and a half decades.
“At the Chickasaw Nation, we have always believed that our greatest strength is our people,” said Governor Anoatubby. “And that belief guides every investment we make, in education, healthcare, housing, economic development, language and culture, and especially our children. When we invest in our youth, we are investing in the future of the Chickasaw Nation.”
The new 18,000 sq. ft. facility will be located near the Chickasaw Nation Child Development Center, Chickasaw Nation Head Start, and other Chickasaw Nation facilities. The building will feature four classrooms, teacher work rooms, offices, and a commercial kitchen, along with two outdoor playgrounds and an indoor playroom.
“It will be more much than just a new facility. It will be a community of support that provides a strong foundation from which to grow and thrive,” said Governor Anoatubby. “And Chickasaw youth clubs offer opportunities for social, cultural, physical, and academic growth. They will learn a lot about Chickasaw history, culture, health and nutrition, and much, much more.”
Chickasaw Nation Youth Clubs operate in Tishomingo, Ardmore, and Sulphur, OK, with programming focused on character development through activities aimed at building competence, usefulness, belonging, and personal agency.
“We are excited to add this new Chickasaw Youth Club as another source of support for our next generation,” said Governor Anoatubby. “Together, we will continue to build a brighter future for the Chickasaw Nation and our communities.”
