The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians continues to move forward in growing future leaders through education, revitalizing our culture – which was lost when we were forced to assimilate into the white world to survive – and bringing back our traditions.

There have been many challenges in 2021, namely staffing and keeping our community safe; but, there have also been opportunities as it relates to CARES and ARPA funds. Tribal nations have never witnessed such a large investment into Indian Country and it is unlikely that we will ever see this again in our lifetime.

One of our greatest assets are the people working for the tribe who continue to do the best that they can with limited resources. They always come through.

Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 and its aftermath, our tribe and casino continue to be successful in addressing the needs and desires of our customer base on a day-to-day basis. As a result, we have been able to navigate the first four months of 2021 successfully.

As Chairman of the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, I see resilience as our tribe’s ability to stand strong economically while staying rooted in our identity and traditions. We are taking bold strategic steps to ensure that strength lasts generations.
