Located in the scenic Pojoaque Valley, the Towa Golf Resort is part of New Mexico's Buffalo Thunder Resort. Designed to be played as four independent nine-hole courses, Towa consists of the Boulder Nine, opened in 2001, the Piñon Nine, opened in 2001, the Butterfly Nine, opened in 2003, and the Valley Nine, which opened in 2005. This 36-hole course features the natural topography, unique rock formations and piñon trees indigenous to the region.

Hale Irwin, winner of 20 PGA titles including the 1974, 1979, and 1990 U.S. Open, designed 18 of the course's holes. William Phillips, a prominent landscape architect and golf course designer, designed the other 18 holes. The course has approximately 170 acres of fairway for the 36 holes, 60 acres of which have a blend of 80% Kentucky bluegrass and 20% ryegrass.
