Golf Course Overview
The Cattail is a par 72 course measuring 7,218 yards from the back tees. The course has a USGA slope of 132, a USGA rating of 73.4 and compliments The Devil's Claw while adding a whole new flavor to championship golf at Whirlwind. While The Devil's Claw touts high mounding and significant fairway elevation changes, The Cattail instead allows deep canyons and pristine lakes to dictate its design.
Located at the Gila River Casino at Wildhorse Pass, the Whirlwind Golf Club has intertwined championship golf with the rich cultural heritage of the Gila River Indian Community. The result is a golf property capable of challenging players of all levels. Designed by golf architect Gary Panks, the Whirlwind Golf Club features two 18-hole courses, The Devil's Claw and The Cattail. The courses were designed to be demanding, yet maintain fairness and playability.
The Whirlwind Golf Club also includes an 8,500 sq. ft. clubhouse whose architectural style and décor were influenced by the Gila River Indian Community. The clubhouse features a golf pro shop, men's and women's locker facilities and a full service restaurant. A 3,000 sq. ft. expansion was completed in January of 2004, adding an individual and group seating area in the gorgeous Phoenix setting.
